KILLINGTON LIGHTS UP THE NIGHT WITH 5th ANNUAL TRICKS N TREATS ULLR JAM BONFIRE
Green Mountain College & Town of Killington Welcome Winter with Nighttime Event
Killington, Vt: Ullr – pronounced ‘Ooh-ler’ – is the Norse god of snow and winter, and the Town of Killington and the Green Mountain College Resort Management Program are throwing a party in his honor! Party and shred the night away on Saturday, October 30th as the Town and GMC throw the 5th Annual Tricks N Treats Ullr Jam at the GMC Killington Campus. Ullr’s been good to Killington in the past, and it’s the Town’s turn to thank him for the snow and hope he sends even more this year!
There’s no better way to get on Ullr’s good side than with a bonfire, DJ, multi-level rail jam, and Nordic competitions like a Viking call contest, costume contest, and tests of skill, Viking-style! We’ll be celebrating Ullr long into the night as we ask him to grant us a snowy season for 2010-2011. And don’t forget to wear your best Viking costume – nothing pleases Ullr more than seeing his fans in their best Viking gear!
“We’re excited to offer a fun community event that’s consistent with the spirit of Killington and the traditions of Green Mountain College,” says Suzie Dundas, Events Coordinator for the Office of Economic Development and Tourism. “We’re celebrating in true mountain style like only Killington can!”
Registration begins at 5 pm and jam starts at 7pm at the Green Mountain College Killington Campus. Registration is $12, or $8 when dressed in your best Viking or Halloween costume. Proceeds benefit Vermont Adaptive Ski & Sports. The Ullr bonfire starts roaring at 6pm and burns through the evening while Killington’s finest throw down their best tricks on the rails in honor of Ullr himself. The event and bonfire are free for spectators.
The Tricks N Treats Ullr Jam & Bonfire is part of Killington’s Hay Festival, a series of autumn events running through November. 8:15 pm: Women’s & Kid’s rail jam finals
8:45 pm: Ullr call contest
9:00 pm: Men’s ski finals
9:30 pm: Hay Bale Tossing Competition
9:45 pm: Men’s snowboard finals
10:00: Prizes & Awards
