KILLINGTON HAY FESTIVAL NAMED ‘TOP TEN’ EVENT BY VERMONT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND EXTENDED BY POPULAR DEMAND
Killington, Vt: The Vermont Chamber of Commerce has named the Killington Hay Festival as a Vermont Top Ten Fall event for 2011, recognizing its appeal and importance to the state. And if you haven’t had time to belly up to a 25-foot bear or snuggle up to a 800lb snail yet this year, you’re in luck! Due to popular demand, the Killington Hay Festival is being extended and our hay animal friends will be with us until November.
Originally scheduled to be removed for Columbus Day, the 35 giant hay sculptures will now be staying in Killington through November. As a result, the community Ullr Bonfire and end of festival celebration will be moved back, allowing visitors, tourists and residents more time to catch a glimpse of all of our Killington animals.
“Nothing embodies the spirit of fun and fall in Killington more than our 35 hay animals,” says Seth Webb, EDT Director. “We’re excited about the statewide recognition for the event and happy to extend the festival and welcome even more locals and guests to our town during our peak foliage season.”
Scavenger hunt maps and answer sheets are available at the Hay Festival Headquarters at the Grist Mill and at many participating businesses throughout the Killington region. The event also features a family hay maze, a Killington Hay Festival Brew from Long Trail, and a series of family-friendly and social events throughout the coming season.
