The Killington Stage Race, The Legend of New England bicycle racing, returns Memorial Day Weekend to Killington, the Heart of Vermont’s Green Mountains. Once one of cycling’s top Eastern events, the race is sponsored by the Killington Economic Development and Tourism Commission and directed by App Gap Productions, the company which has successfully run the Green Mountain Stage Race each autumn in Vermont.
Killington’s Grand Hotel will serve as Race Headquarters. Named by Conde Naste’s 2007 Ski Poll as one of the Top 50 Ski Hotels in the country, the hotel is conveniently located at the heart of the Killington Access Road and an easy ride from the start of each day’s racing.
The race will take place over Memorial Day Weekend, May 29, 30 and 31 with racers, their families and support groups headquartered in Killington. There will be three stages, including a circuit race, a long individual time trial and a road race. The general category will be scored on time. The race will feature both a King and Queen of the Mountains and a Sprint Competition. The race returns following a decade hiatus. The event was a staple in the Greater Killington Region for many years, and the Killington Region is proud to welcome the race back in 2010.
“The Killington Stage Race has a rich history in the Northeast cycling community and we’re excited to be partnering with the EDTC to bring this great event back for everyone to enjoy,” said Gary Kessler, Race Director. “Vermont is known for great cycling and the Killington Stage Race has a storied heritage as truly great event.”
Registration for the six fields of racing and information on the Killington Stage Race is available at Killington Stage Race website.
