TOWN OF KILLINGTON BRINGS DEW TOUR TO THE COMMUNITY
Town works with Tour to arrange media opportunities, parties, hosting and more for town businesses!Killington, Vt: The Winter Dew Tour – the preferred competition of the world’s best skiers and snowboarders – returns to Killington Resort for its second year January 19-22, 2012. 2012's Dew Tour has featured athletes like Shaun White, Danny Davis, Louis Vito, Simon Dumont and Kelly Clark, and is expected to draw more than 30,000 guests to Killington over the course of the event.
The Town of Killington is working directly with Dew Tour officials to make sure the energy and atmosphere on the hill extends into the town during the event, and has put out a call to businesses to host events like autograph signings and sponsor parties, nominate themselves to be a Top 15 location (featured in the Dew Tour program) and, most importantly for guests, offer discounts and specials all weekend long to anyone attending the tour.
“By partnering with the Dew Tour and Alli Sports this year, we’re able to ensure that all businesses have equal opportunity to benefit from this event. Not only can restaurants in town offer incentives for Tour enthusiasts or be promoted nationally as a Top 15 location in town, anyone can throw their hat in the ring for the opportunity to host an athlete autograph signing or other official event,” says Suzie Dundas, Interim Director of the Office of Economic Development and Tourism. “We’re also excited to give businesses the opportunity to offer deals and promos to guests, and plan to distribute daily flyers of what’s going on throughout town at the on-snow festival village that weekend.”

The enthusiasm and support from the entire community has been incredible,” said Chris Prybylo, General Manager of the Winter Dew Tour. “From Killington Resort, to the restaurants and shops to lodging and transportation, the entire community contributed to the success of our inaugural year here; we’re looking forward to building on each of those relationships in 2012.”
Entering its fourth year, the top athletes in the world will take part in the 2011-12 Winter Dew Tour, all competing for the highly coveted Dew Cup that will be awarded at season’s end to champions in each of the eight disciplines. The 2010-11 Dew Cup champions include Louie Vito (men’s snowboard superpipe), Kelly Clark (women’s snowboard superpipe), Torstein Horgmo (men’s snowboard slopestyle), Jamie Anderson (women’s snowboard slopestyle), Kevin Rolland (ski superpipe) and Bobby Brown (ski slopestyle.) In addition to a weekend of contests, each stop will feature an interactive Festival Village and musical guests.

EDT Officials also plan to announce details of lodging partnerships and a comprehensive transportation plan focused on safe and easy travel during the Tour. Deadlines for participation are as early as December 19, 2011, so businesses are encouraged to reach out to the Town soon.
