Tickets Are Available for the 11th Annual Killington Wine Festival: July 20-22

Posted on June 14, 2012

Killington, VT – Killington Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the return of the Killington Wine Festival, to be held from July 20-22 in Killington, Vermont.  Now in its eleventh year, the Festival continues its tradition of bringing hundreds of fine wines from around the world to the Green Mountains for festival goers to sample.  The lineup for the three-day event includes an Estate Wine Tasting of estate and reserve wines, the Grand Tasting held in festive tents in the shadow of Killington Peak, the Wine and Nine golf outing at Killington's championship Green Mountain National Golf Course, as well as abundant food and wine events at area restaurants, including the Killington Wine Trail.  Wine enthusiasts can secure their tickets directly from the Killington Chamber of Commerce at 800-337-1928, or online through killingtonchamber.com.

The Festival kicks off Friday, July 20th with the Estate Wine Tasting poolside at the Killington Grand Hotel. Select wineries will sample their collections of estate and reserve wines. Representatives will be on hand to discuss each wine; educating festival attendees about the nuances of the fine wines being sampled.  Tickets to the Estate Wine Tasting are limited, with only 100 tickets available for sale.

The signature event of the Festival, The Grand Tasting, will be held on Saturday afternoon at the foot of Killington Mountain.  The tasting will be held under a large tent at Killington Resort’s brand new Roaring Brook Umbrella Bars, completed in December 2011.  Guests will have the opportunity to move through the different venues, enjoying a seemingly endless variety of wines produced domestically and from places as far away as France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, Argentina and South Africa.  This year, the Grand Tasting will feature a special area dedicated to Vermont wines and local artisanal foods including cheese, chocolates, sausage and more.  Admission to the event includes tastings, wine-friendly fare, a signature tote with wine glass, and a scenic round trip ride to Killington Peak on the K1 Gondola.

A new addition to this year’s schedule of events is the Killington Wine Trail, where Killington restaurants and bars will showcase a special wine, or food and wine pairing, on Friday night.   Food and wine lovers are invited to visit various establishments, moving at their own pace.    On Saturday night, local chefs at some of the area’s best restaurants will create dinner pairings with wines featured at the weekend tastings.  On both nights, special guests from wineries will be on hand to describe the wines and answer questions.

The Wine Festival weekend wraps up with two relaxing Sunday events - A Bubbly Brunch at Wally’s American Grille and the Wine and Nine Golf Scramble at the premier Green Mountain National Golf Course.  Always a sell-out event, the Wine and Nine offers golfers of all abilities a chance to play a lighthearted round of golf on Vermont’s #1 Public Golf Course before drawing the weekend to a close.

Tickets, information and accommodation packages for all budgets are available online at www.killingtonchamber.com, or by calling the Killington Chamber of Commerce at (800) 337-1928.
