Signature Killington Events
Every year, Killington welcomes many unique events to its mountains. Because Vermont is a thriving hub for skilled artisans, farmers, chefs, talented musicians, and creative craftspeople, it is no surprise that many events are focused around culture and the arts or local produce, beer and wine. In addition, the beautiful landscape is an ideal spot for hosting althletic events like cycling tours and skiing competitions. Events and festivals draw visitors to the Killington region year round, but are especially popular in the summer months when the weather is perfect for being outside. Autumn brings more fun activities and events that celebrate the harvest season and, of course, beautiful fall foliage! In the winter months, on-snow competitions and rail jams are frequent at Killington Resort and Pico Mountain and draw amazing athletes from around the world. Each year, the Killington Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Killington and Killington Resort host an exciting schedule of Signature Events.
Killington Hay Festival (Labor Day to Columbus Day)
This five-week celebration of autumn in Vermont showcases a collection of 40 giant hay animals on display at businesses throughout town. Join the family-friendly educational scavenger hunt through the winding roads and across the mountains of Killington to find the giant hay sculptures.
Killington Classic (Labor Day Weekend)
Now a Vermont Chamber of Commerce Top-10 Event two years in a row! Vermont's largest motorcycle touring rally offers social events, day rides, poker runs, lectures, demos and the signature 12-mile parade of over 1,000 motorcycles through the heart of the Green Mountains.
Killington Brewfest (October)
The Killington Brewfest is a celebration of the Northeast’s finest craft beers. Come wet your whistle at the base of 4,241' Killington Peak during the pinnacle of autumn foliage. Festival goers will enjoy live music, a plethora of fabulous food offerings and over 70 of the finest craft beers that our region has to offer.
Vermont Holiday Festival (December)
You’ll find the 'Festival of Trees', where 100 individually decorated trees are on display, live holiday music performances and free horse-drawn sleigh rides. Children love Santa’s Workshop- a one-hour story telling and toy-making session, including a visit from Santa’s himself! At the Festival, you can enter to win your favorite tree to take home, including all of the trimmings! Named a Vermont Chamber of Commerce Top Ten Winter Event and a favorite 'Pick for Kids'.
Killington Stage Race (Memorial Day Weekend)
The Killington Stage Race is a series of three races structured to cover a variety of terrain and distances, and set against the cool, lush landscape of Vermont's Geren Mountains. The lengedary Stage Race was revived in 2009 after a ten-year hiatus. Three days of races and incredible athletes from around the world make for an exciting competition for racers and spectators alike.
Town of Killington July 4th Celebration (July 4th)
The 4th of July Celebration and Fireman's BBQ is one of the most popular events of the summer and a very special event. All day long enjoy the wonderful food cooked by the Killington Fire Department and other volunteers. During the afternoon, the town hosts fun filled games and Entertainment. Bring your baithing suit, a picnic blanket and be prepared to stay until the fireworks at dusk!
Killington Music Festival (July-August)
Each summer about 100 students gather from institutions such as the Juilliard School of Music, Boston Conservatory, The New England Conservatory, The Manhattan School of Music, Peabody Conservatory, Eastman School of Music and the University of Arizona to play chamber music and to teach string students. Performances by the faculty and invited guest artists have made the Festival a mainstay of summer culture in the region for over 30 years.
Killington Wine Festival (July)
Over the last ten years, the Killington Wine Festival has become a signature summer event for the Killington region. Guests enjoy a nice July weekend tasting fine wines with Killington Peak and the Green Mountains of Vermont as a scenic backdrop. The Killington Wine Festival continues to grow each year and now features over 500 wines from around the world represented by over 40 wineries and distributors.
'Coolor in the Mountains' Summer Concert Series (Saturdays in August)
Grab the lawn chair, beach blanket, and the whole family and head to Killington’s K1 Base Area for this outdoor concert series featuring top regional bands. Concerts are held on Saturday afternoons and support the greening efforts of Reverb, a non-profit organization, which educates and engages musicians and their fans to take action toward a more sustainable future.
The Spartan Race (September)
This challenging course race will take you around Killington Peak to face military style obstacles along the way, including an eight foot wall, slippery incline wall, cargo net climb, barbed wire crawl, water obstacles, mud crawl, spear throw, fire jump and gladiator pit. The course combines the most rugged terrain and burly obstacles to allow those with a sense of adventure to define themselves, then bask in glory at a rocking after party with live music, food and plenty of beer.
