Snowshoeing & Cross Country Skiing


Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are two great ways to explore Vermont's beautiful snow-covered landscape while getting exercise and taking in the peace and beauty of nature.  There are several places in the Killington region that have miles of groomed trails for all ages & abilities.  Equipment rentals, lessons and guided tours are also available at several locations.

 

Mountain Meadows Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe Center
Description: Located right here in Killington since 1978!  Trails are so well marked that all skill levels can go out and enjoy the wilderness and still have the peace of mind knowing you will get back safely.  Snowshoes are welcome on all trails, however there are three new beautiful snow shoe specific trails that take you through majestic Vermont country side, which are highly reccommended.  Mountain Meadows welcomes the whole family and that means your dog as well.

The Mountain Top Inn and Resort Nordic Center
Description:
 One of the first commercial cross country ski touring centers in the East, The Mountain Top Inn Nordic Center has served the skiing public for over a quarter century. Located in a renovated horse stable and offering some of the best cross country skiing on 60km of trails (40km groomed), with classical ski track and skating lanes. The snowmaking system covers a 1.5km loop.  Easy access to the Catamount Trail further extends the number of trails that you will enjoy.

Onsite ski shop has the latest in ski and snowshoe rentals. The ski school is staffed with a friendly and knowledgeable staff of instructors for all skill levels.  Hot drinks and lunches available.

Hawk Mountain Inn and Resort Touring Center
Description: 1,200 acre network of trails with a variety of trails for all levels- beginner, intermediate and expert.  Hawk is guaranteed to have what you're looking for in their winding, circuitous trail network.

High Altitude Adventures

Description:  In the Heart of the Madden basin at Sunrise Mt. Village.  Fully networked groomed & natural Snowshoe and Cross Country trails. Back Country Skiing and Snowshoeing with Lunch & Dinner Tours to the Wilderness Camp, Guide Service, Equipment Rentals, and Instruction.

Safety note: Dress properly and lways check the weather & your equiptment before heading out.  It is always a good idea to go with a buddy, but if you are venturing out alone, be sure to let someone know where you are going and what time you expect to return.  Never leave marked trails and do not venture out onto unfamiliar trails late in the afternoon.
